Honda’s SUV Lineup Earns Brand Loyalty Award From J.D. Power

Discussions of brand loyalty that include the likes of Honda and Toyota should come as no surprise to those that have been paying attention over the last few decades. Both carry fiercely loyal fan bases spread out among their various platforms, some of which are in their eleventh-generation, spanning across 50 years or more. Though Honda’s SUV line doesn’t go back nearly as many years, it’s wasted no time in building a very loyal following, many of which are comeback clients that are getting into newer versions of a vehicle they have no doubt been happy with, or, as J.D. Powers’ report says, leaving their traditional gas-powered vehicles behind in lieu of one of the automaker’s new hybrid options. While some brands are struggling with moving the needle, J.D. ranks Honda number one in terms of customer loyalty based around their mass market SUVs.

The Fall season means shorter days and less daylight which brings additional safety issues. Factors to be aware of when driving in the dark. The risk of fatal crash is three times greater at night. Depth perception, color recognition and peripheral vision can be compromised in the dark. The glare or headlights from an oncoming car can temporarily blind a driver.

Tips for driving in the dark: Be sure headlights are aimed correctly. Look away from oncoming lights. Ensure your vehicle receives regular maintenance and the windshield is clean. Maintain safe speed and increased distance from the vehicle ahead of you.

Other things to be aware of when driving during the fall: Fallen leaves can cause slippery driving conditions. Fall means back-to-school; watch out for children at bus stops. Watch for deer or other animals, who are more likely to run into the road during fall. If you are fatigued or impaired, don’t drive.

NATIONAL DESSERT DAY

National Dessert Day is on Monday, October 14, 2024. It’s an annual event that’s celebrated by indulging in desserts like pies, ice cream, cookies, and more. Here are some of our team’s favorite recipes. You can send your favorite recipe in too and we’ll publish it in our next newsletter!

Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Cake (for chocolate lovers) Recipe from the kitchen of JoAnn Manelli. If you are looking for a quick easy cake, I have the perfect one for you. 1 Devils’ food cake mix, 1 chocolate instant pudding (small 3 3/8 oz), 4 eggs, ¼ cup oil, 1 ¼ cup water, 8 oz chocolate chips (add last). Mix all ingredients together (adding chocolate chips last) & pour into greased 13x9x2 pan. Bake at 350 approximately 40-45 minutes.

Easy Peanut Butter Fudge Submitted by Diana Ross (KY). 2 cups sugar, 1 tbsp margarine, 1 cup peanut butter, ½ cup whole milk, Dash of salt, 1 tsp vanilla. Bring sugar, milk, salt & margarine to a hard boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat, add peanut butter & vanilla. Stir quickly & completely & pour into pan.

No Bake Cheesecake Submitted by Rhonda Breedlove. 1 graham cracker crust 6 oz, 4 oz cream cheese, ¼ cup sugar, ½ cup sour cream, 1 tsp vanilla, 4 oz frozen non-dairy whipped topping, Favorite toppings (cherries, strawberries, blueberries, etc.). Beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in sugar. Blend in sour cream & vanilla. Fold in whipped topping blending well. Spoon mixture into graham cracker crust & then top with your favorite fruit topping. I use the canned fruits a lot like cherries & strawberries, but if strawberries are in season I use strawberry glaze with fresh strawberries. You can use whatever your favorite topping is. Chill in fridge for at least 4 hours before serving. The cream cheese & whipped topping come in 8 oz so when I make these, I make two. They are easy to make & always a hit.

Rolo Pretzel Bites Submitted by Rhonda Breedlove. Rolo pretzel bites are the perfect combo of sweet, salty + chewy, and crunchy! Take them to your next holiday party — they’ll disappear quickly! My Dad (Allen Zemo) sent me this recipe as a twist to the one I typically make with pretzels, Hershey kisses & m&m’s. 25 small pretzels, gluten-free if needed, 25 Rolo’s, 25 M&M’s or pecans/walnuts! Preheat the oven to 250F. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. Place a single layer of pretzels on the baking sheet. Place one Rolo on top of each pretzel. Bake for 3-5 minutes until the Rolo has softened. (You don’t want the Rolos too melted.) Remove from the oven and press the M&M or nut halfway down into the melted Rolo. Let cool on the baking sheet completely. Enjoy!
