Honda Joins the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program

June 18, 2025 - TORRANCE, Calif. Honda will provide $1 million annually to support disaster preparedness. Enhances its longstanding relationship with American Red Cross. Proactive approach to funding enables the Red Cross to better prepare for disaster relief efforts nationwide. The Honda U.S. family of companies today announced that it is enhancing its longstanding support for American Red Cross disaster relief efforts across the nation by joining the nonprofit's Annual Disaster Giving Program, which helps ensure the organization can respond to the more than 65,000 disasters that take place each year. The annual Honda contribution of $1 million went into effect April 1, 2025. Honda is a longtime supporter of the Red Cross. Over the past three decades, the company has provided support following disaster events affecting communities near its facilities as well as large scale national disasters, such as the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and Hurricane Katrina. Earlier this year, Honda supported Red Cross relief efforts for communities impacted by wildfires in the panhandle, where the company has been part of the community for more than 60 years. Honda also supported recovery efforts together with the Red Cross and other organizations after tornadoes struck near its manufacturing plants in Ohio and in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. By joining the Annual Disaster Giving Program, Honda will enable the Red Cross to more quickly meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities affected by disasters across the country.

Service Tips

Wax your car regularly. Experts say a vehicle should have high quality wax applied at least twice a year (prefer 3-4 times). A car wax gives a natural shine to your car and helps protect the paint from fading and environmental damage. It takes only about an hour to wax an entire car with the high-quality car wax we use on the car for two - four months. So far, we have not seen a single product that stays for a lifetime as you may have heard in some commercials... nothing is forever. In order to maintain a protective coat of wax, the product needs to be reapplied periodically. Dealers offer this service at a very reasonable price and use some of the best product in the car industry. Call us here at Ralph Honda Service for more information at 585-723-5015.

How to clean bird droppings. Bird droppings are very acidic and abrasive. It is very important not to let bird droppings set on the painted surfaces as it will etch thru the clear coat and cause blemishes and permanent damage to the paint. The best way to clean bird droppings off is to first soak them with water (a few drops of soap, if available, will help) for a few minutes and the just spray them off. The stains from bird droppings will require buffing with the fine polishing compound and then covered with high quality car wax. If birds target your car regularly it might be a good idea to keep a spray bottle with water/soap in your car, so you can wash the bird droppings off before they cause permanent stains or damage.

Undercoating and rust proofing your vehicle. If you live in an area with high humidity, or where the road salt is common in winter months, undercoating and rust proofing can help to protect the car body and chassis components of your car from corrosion. Look at the picture, this is a proportional valve, part of the brake system. It's located underneath the car and as you can see, it is completely rusted, even though this vehicle is only five years old. This happened because this vehicle was driven in a "rust belt" area with high humidity and lots of salt on the roads in winter. Sometimes later, one of these brake lines can burst and the car will have no brakes. Properly done undercoating and rust proofing can protect important components of the car from corrosion.

Honda Made The List of The Top 20 Most American-Made Cars - Auto Guide

Honda Ridgeline. Get used to seeing vehicles from Honda on the American-Made Index. Honda operates several production plants in the United States, and the Ridgeline pickup truck is assembled in Alabama. Honda Odyssey. Like the Ridgeline that came just before, the Odyssey is assembled in Lincoln, Alabama. Interestingly, the Odyssey has been built in North America since the second-generation debuted for the 1999 model year, and was actually exported to Japan, where it wore the LaGreat nameplate between 1999 and 2004. Honda Passport. The Passport in ninth spot is the third Honda in a row on this list. The first two Passport generations, built between 1994 through 2002, were designed by Isuzu (which marketed its own version as the Rodeo) and built in Indiana. Starting in 2019, the Honda-designed Passport began production in Alabama. Honda Pilot. The final Honda that's assembled in Alabama to land a spot in the top 20 is the Pilot SUV. It's closely related to the Passport that we saw in ninth place, and has been produced in the United States since its introduction for the 2003 model year (Canadian models were built in Ontario for a period as well). Honda Accord. The Honda Accord sedan has been built in Ohio since 1981. It was the first Honda to be built in the United States and continues to be produced at Honda's plant in Marysville, Ohio to this day. The Acura TLX and Integra are also assembled at the Marysville plant, while the Goldwing motorcycle is assembled at a separate plant in the same city.
