Explore Used Honda SUVs Equipped With Honda Sensing Safety Technology

Published on May 8, 2026 by Brianna White

If you're searching for a used car dealership, look no further than Ralph Honda. Here, you'll find that pre-owned vehicles often come with a mix of classic design touches and modern value.

Style details like bodylines and interior paneling may reflect the design trends of their model year, while some audio systems may be more straightforward than today's latest tech. One thing that remains non-negotiable, however, is safety.

If you're considering buying a used Honda SUV, you might be researching which models offer driver-assist features similar to those available today. Below, we'll show you three used Honda SUVs that will help you command the roads—but first, let's go over what Honda Sensing includes.

What Comes Standard With Honda Sensing

All the models we're discussing today are equipped with Honda Sensing, Honda's suite of driver-assist features. It was first introduced in 2015 and has received minor improvements since then.

Every generation we recommend covers model years after 2015, so you can be confident that each model we discuss carries the following safety features.

Collision Mitigation Braking System: Added Protection Ahead

This system alerts the driver of a potential front-facing collision and, if necessary, activates emergency brakes to avoid a crash. It works with a forward collision warning system that uses cameras to detect vehicles and pedestrians ahead of your vehicle.

If a potential crash is detected, the system provides audible or visual alerts. If the driver fails to brake in time, the system activates the automatic brakes.

Lane Keeping Assist: Support on Long Highway Drives

Constant minor steering adjustments can become exhausting on long freeway drives. This system relieves you of that work. It uses a camera to read lane markings and applies gentle steering inputs to keep you centered on the highway.

Adaptive Cruise Control: Smarter Highway Driving

This system lets you set a desired speed and a desired following distance. It then works with cruise control to automatically maintain your speed, while adhering to the set following interval. It uses a combination of a camera and radar to detect the location of the vehicle ahead of you.

Cross Traffic Monitor: Confidence When Backing Up

Backing out of driveways or parking spots can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be. This system uses sensors in the rear bumper to detect vehicles approaching your rear when you're in reverse and to provide alerts when an object is behind you.

Blind Spot Information System: Safer Lane Changes

This system uses radar sensors to detect vehicles behind and beside your vehicle and provides visual alerts when another vehicle is present. It is designed to support safer lane changes by helping you stay aware of vehicles in hard-to-see areas.

Automatic High Beams: Better Visibility in Low-Light Conditions

From country roads to remote wilderness areas, you might find yourself in places that lack street lights. These automatic high beams will turn on in low-light conditions to improve visibility and turn off when they detect oncoming traffic to prevent interference with other drivers' visibility.

Driver Attention Monitor: Help Staying Alert on the Road

It can be difficult to stay alert after many hours on the road, especially without a front-seat passenger to help keep you focused.

This system monitors your steering input for signs of fatigue or drowsiness. It provides visual and audible alerts when it's time to take a break or get a coffee.

Road Departure Mitigation: Added Awareness and Lane Support

Another potential side effect of long-distance driving is drifting off the road. This system has cameras that can detect solid and dashed lines. If you veer off the road, it provides steering inputs to guide you back into your lane.

Multi-Angle Rearview Camera: A Clearer View When Reversing

This camera acts as your second (and third and fourth) set of eyes, monitoring your surroundings and projecting real-time footage onto your touchscreen.

It offers a top, normal, and wide view when you're in reverse, taking the guesswork out of backup maneuvers. Select models add static guidelines to give a better sense of distances, as well as dynamic guidelines that project your path based on steering inputs.

Three Used Honda SUVs With Honda Sensing

Now that we know what you'll get with Honda Sensing, let's take a look at three SUVs (and their respective generations) that carry the suite.

Fifth-Generation Honda CR-V (2017–2022

The CR-V is a compact SUV that's a great option for commuters thanks to its fuel efficiency. Putting a lot of miles on the CR-V won't mean putting a lot of money in the gas tank. It also has Real Time all-wheel drive (AWD), which monitors driving conditions and enhances traction when needed. It even has towing abilities, letting you take small vessels along for the ride.

The CR-V's interior is surprisingly flexible, allowing you to fold down rear seats to create extra cargo room. Should you select a 2020 or newer model, you will also have the option to shop for a CR-V Hybrid. A satellite-linked navigation system appeared in the 2017 CR-V, too, making it a great option for road trippers. It even offers voice-controlled searches for hands-free navigational inquiries.

CR-Vs from 2017 and newer are smartphone compatible, meaning you can connect your devices to the touchscreen. It even boasts features like remote engine start, letting you pre-warm or pre-cool your cabin before you get in, and rear USB charging ports for passengers.

Third-Generation Honda Passport (2019–2025)

If it's a midsize SUV with rugged abilities and practical features you're after, the third-generation Passport is worth a look. The third generation was an exciting one because it marked the model's return after a 15-year hiatus.

The Passport is known for its spacious interior and generous cargo area. It also offers available AWD with Intelligent Traction Management, which includes different drive modes that help adjust vehicle performance to suit conditions such as sand, snow, and mud. With 5,000 lbs of towing capacity, the Passport allows you to bring along larger gear and equipment on your adventures.

Since the Passport returned to the Honda family in 2019, it has benefited from many of the modern technology features that were slowly making their way across the lineup at the time. These include smartphone connectivity, in-vehicle Wi-Fi, and wireless device charging.

Third-Generation Honda Pilot (2016–2022)

If it's a three-row SUV you're after that's ready for family life and road trips with friends, check out a used Pilot. The Pilot has a spacious interior and is packed with well-placed compartments for all of those carpool and adventure essentials like drinks and devices.

For the third generation, Honda redesigned the Pilot to be more capable and more comfortable than ever. Drivers can find available heated and ventilated seating options and a panoramic glass roof, perfect for scenic adventures. Available second-row captain's chairs create a VIP feel and spacious interior.

The third-generation Pilot is particularly a great option for tech-savvy passengers, thanks to its array of ports and plugs. With up to five USB ports, an auxiliary jack, an HDMI port, two headphone jacks, and three 12-volt outlets, the Pilot can support just about any device for streaming, gaming, homework, and more on the road.
