There are two engines available for the 2023 CR-V, and you really can’t go wrong with either of them. The standard engine is a 1.5L 4-cylinder that delivers 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque, which comes paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). You get front-wheel drive (FWD) standard with this engine, though Honda’s Real Time All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with Intelligent Control to maintain optimal traction is available.

The other engine is one we’re particularly thrilled about: a 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder hybrid engine that comes with two electric motors to boost performance up to 204 hp. Much like with the other engine, you can choose either FWD or AWD with the hybrid, though the highest trim is only offered with the impressive AWD system. With its standard engine, the CR-V gets an EPA-estimated 28 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway, while the hybrid kicks that up to an EPA-estimated 43 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.

As we mentioned, the interior is larger this year, which translates into more room for your passengers and 76.5 cu.ft. of interior cargo space behind the front seats. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard on every model, so everyone stays comfortable inside, as are heated front seats. This is a two-row model with seating for up to five passengers.

This means you’re going to be comfortable, no matter which trim you choose, though higher trims come with a two-position memory system that’s perfect if you frequently have two different drivers. Leather-trimmed seats are available, and the hybrid models feature orange contrast stitching for an extra touch of style, plus a four-way power-adjustable front-passenger seat is also available.

You’d expect a new model to showcase some innovative technology, and the 2023 CR-V certainly delivers in that regard. For starters, every model comes with Adaptive Cruise Control standard, along with a push-button start, illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls, and ambient lighting. You also get a seven-inch Driver Information Interface Screen standard with all of the meters and dials you need as the driver, along with a seven-inch infotainment display and a six-speaker sound system. Standard features also include numerous USB and charging ports, speed-sensitive volume compensation, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Higher trims come with a nine-inch infotainment display that includes an eight-speaker sound system, although there’s an available 12-speaker Bose premium sound system featuring Centerpoint surround-sound technology if you want an amazing audio experience.
