If you’re looking for enhanced performance, then we’re pleased to say that there’s a second engine available, which comes standard on the EX-L and Sport Touring trims. This is a 1.5L turbocharged I-4 that delivers 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, giving you a fantastic time on the road. One extra aspect of these two engines that we love is that both of them can be optioned with a six-speed manual transmission, which isn’t something you see very often. And if you choose a CVT for the Sport or Sport Touring trims instead of the manual transmission, then it includes Dual-Mode Paddle Shifters for an even more enjoyable driving experience.

Surprising performance is one thing from a hatchback (though it’s really no surprise when you’re talking about a Honda vehicle), but you expect a car like this to get good gas mileage. Once again, Honda comes through because the 2024 Civic Hatchback is one of the most efficient vehicles in the Honda lineup, keeping you on the road longer between stops for gas. If you go with the standard LX trim with its CVT, then you get an EPA-estimated 30 MPG in the city, 38 MPG on the highway, and 33 MPG combined fuel efficiency. Interestingly, the most efficient option is the turbocharged EX-L with its CVT, which gets you an EPA-estimated 31 MPG in the city, 39 MPG on the highway, and 35 MPG combined fuel economy. The fact that you can get such an efficient vehicle that’s also incredibly fun to drive perfectly illustrates why this is one of our favorite cars out there and an incredible choice for a hatchback.

A fun drive that lets you go a long time between stops for gas is great, but the thing most drivers look for is an interior that improves your time on the road. Honda understands this, and we see it immediately in the tech features found inside the 2024 Civic Hatchback. The standard LX trim comes with automatic climate control to keep you and your passengers comfortable, push button start, and a seven-inch infotainment display paired with a seven-inch Digital Instrument Cluster screen. A four-speaker sound system is standard, which is great for drivers who aren’t looking for bombastic audio.

If you’re interested in some upgrades, then Honda has you covered. Available features for the 2024 Civic Hatchback include dual-zone automatic climate control and an automatic-dimming rearview mirror. You can get a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob for an extra touch of sophistication in this hatchback, along with heated, leather-trimmed front seats. With the rear seats up, there’s 24.5 cu.ft. of cargo volume for you to take advantage of, giving you a tremendous amount of space to bring everything you need along with you. Best of all, its hatchback design makes it easy for you to load and unload this Civic, taking full advantage of the generous space it offers.

We know a lot of drivers who prioritize performance and fuel efficiency along with comfort and tech features—we get it; those things are important to us. But as far as we’re concerned, none of that matters if your vehicle doesn’t help keep you safe while you’re on the road. Honda understands this well and the 2024 Civic Hatchback comes with Honda Sensing Driver-Assistive features standard on every trim. This includes a Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, a Road Departure Mitigation System, a Lane Keeping Assist System, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow.
