Waterborne Painting Explained
Ralph Honda proudly uses Waterborne paints for best quality and to reduce hazardous exposure for our employees and air pollutants to the environment in general. These paints are safer to use, have a lower environmental impact, and dry more quickly. Combined with our high-tech infrared equipment, what used to take several hours to dry now takes less than an hour!
As explained by the Pollution Prevention Infohouse, “The volatile organic compound (VOC) content of waterborne paints is significantly lower than conventional solvent-based paints, thereby reducing VOC emissions. Waterborne (or latex) paints are composed of synthetic resins and pigments that are kept dispersed in water by surfactants. They also contain small amounts of coalescing solvents. Waterborne paints dry by evaporation of the water. The coalescing solvents allow the resin particles to fuse together (coalesce) as the water evaporates to form a continuous coating. Waterborne paints reduce VOC emissions and worker exposure to hazardous air pollutants. These paints can also reduce the amount of hazardous waste generated, depending on the type of paint used.”8

What if I need to have my vehicle towed?

Do I need an appointment to get an estimate?
Walk-ins are welcome, although it is best to call ahead so we can advise you of the process.
My car has been in an accident. Is it safe to drive my car?
Never drive a car that could be unsafe because of damages. Contact us, and our collision repair experts can assess that damage to your vehicle. We will also help guide oyu through the insurance claim process.
What if my insurance company wants me to go to another shop?
You have the right to go to the shop of your choice. Your insurance company cannot require you to go to a particular shop.
Will the rental be arranged for me and can the rental car company meet me at Ralph Honda?
Yes, we try to make it as easy as possible for you to pick up and drop off the rental vehicle onsite.
How do I get an estimate?
Some insurance companies want you to visit their drive-in claims center before bringing your car to the collision repair center. You can do this, or you may leave you vehicle at Ralph Honda and request that the insurance company inspect your vehicle here.
Should I accept the insurance check, and if I do, will additional work be covered?
Yes. We will work with the insurance company on any supplements (additional damage found to be accident related) and will bill them directly.
What do I need for a collision repair estimate?
You need the damaged vehicle, vehicle registration and insurance information.
Estimates may vary – why is that?
Differences in collision repair estimates are common. A lower estimate may not include all necessary work. In the process of fixing the damage caused by the collision, additional auto-body repair issues may be revealed. If you’re not sure why one estimate is different from the other, please ask us.
Which shop should I choose?
If you choose Ralph Honda’s Collision Center, you are guaranteed uni-body repair equipment and certified (ASE, I-Car) technicians.
Will I have to deal with the insurance company on supplements?
We will be happy to negotiate your claim with the insurance company.
Do you perform state inspections and other routine vehicle maintenance?
Yes!
Do you warranty your work?
Our collision repair and auto body repair services come with a limited lifetime warranty as long as you own the vehicle.
Do I need more than one estimate?
No.
Do I have to notify my insurance company if I wasn’t at fault?
Not necessarily. If the other party has accepted liability you do not have to call your insurance company.
Do I have to pay my deductible if I file a claim through my insurance company even though I may not be at fault?
In most cases, yes. You will be reimbursed if the other company pays through subrogation (accepts liability of damages).
Do I have to accept alternative or aftermarket parts?
All insurance companies have different guidelines and may require the usage of alternative parts.
If I have full coverage, does that mean the rental vehicle cost will be covered?
Not necessarily, only if it’s part of your policy. Check with your agent. If not, we have low cost rentals available and you can always add the coverage to your policy at a low annual cost.
How old do you have to be to rent a vehicle?
You must be at least 21 years of age.
