The 2024 Honda Prologue vs 2024 Blazer EV

Published on Oct 28, 2025 by Brianna White

When we look toward the future, we often think of the need for greater efficiency. Not only does that take the form of finding ways to cut down on gasoline usage, but ways to save money and time in the process. Honda and Chevy are pros at these feats, demonstrating a commitment to the environment, a need to swiftly get electric vehicles (EVs) on the market, and all while keeping to a tight budget where possible. They did this with their joint partnership to share the development costs of the new Honda Prologue, which is built on the Chevy Blazer’s EV platform.

Now that this great new electric SUV from Honda is being released to the market, you might be wondering about the differences between it and its Chevy cousin. This is especially true if you’re looking for a Honda Prologue for sale and need info before making a purchase. So, what are the differences between the 2024 Prologue and the 2024 Blazer EV? What’s the same between these electric SUVs? How did this partnership come about? And why should you choose one over the other?

The Partnership Between Honda and General Motors

In the past, most automakers closely guarded their products. They wanted to make sure the competition didn’t get any advantages over them and that their differentiators were clearly outlined in all their vehicles. As the industry races toward electrification, however, speed and cost are more important than holding up old walls between competing brands. Mutually beneficial arrangements can be made to produce the best new vehicles, and at paces impossible without partnership.

For the 2024 model year, Honda partnered with GM to do just that and is now releasing the 2024 Honda Prologue to the market. Instead of constructing a net-new EV all on their own, Honda researched Chevy’s Blazer EV and determined that it met all of the performance metrics they wanted in a new electric model. They tested the Blazer’s powertrain for its horsepower, speed, efficiency, and every other metric at the core of a vehicle, and then—instead of deciding to reinvent the wheel—they entered into a partnership to port over the core structure of the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV to their newest vehicle, the Prologue.

Now, despite the underpinnings of the Prologue being Blazer technology (including GM’s Ultium Drive motor and battery pack), the Prologue is a stand-alone rival to the Blazer EV. There are no hard feelings between these two brands—only a healthy rivalry that continues to push each to its fullest potential. So, what are the differences between these SUVs if they’re built on the same platform?

What’s Different Between the Prologue and the Blazer EV?

When comparing the 2024 Honda Prologue and the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV, the most startling difference is the overall aesthetic. If you didn’t know that these two SUVs were built on the same platform, you’d probably assume they were entirely different models.

On the exterior of the Honda, however, you’ll discover a body that is minimalist in nature and ‘looks’ like a Honda. They’ve gone for a clean design known as “neo-rugged,” which clues the viewer into the Prologue’s outdoor capabilities without going over the top. The Blazer EV, on the other hand, showcases a narrowing center with flaring fenders that give it that classic glass bottle shape.

Moving inside, we start to see how these two vehicles were cut from the same cloth, so to speak. The upholstery is different, with the Prologue taking notes from the Honda Pilot, but the materials and plastics around the cabin look similar. The biggest differing characteristic—and the one that will make some people choose one vehicle or the other—is the dash; although these infotainment systems’ capabilities are largely the same, the overall dash—including the digital touchscreen and instrument cluster—are wildly different.

On the Blazer, the touchscreen spans a startling 17.7 inches and incorporates many of the manual controls drivers are accustomed to using via knobs and buttons. The Honda’s screen is much more modest in size, measuring 11.3 inches to retain room for traditional system controls. Honda listened to their customer base and decided that a mixture of screen-enabled and manually-controlled operations (like a volume dial rather than capacitative taps) would best meet their drivers’ needs.

The main functional difference in these SUVs’ capabilities lies in the driving dynamics. To stay true to Honda’s reputation for vehicles that handle exceptionally well, the Prologue will only be offered in FWD or AWD. This is different from the Chevy Blazer EV, which has an available RWD configuration.

The majority of the differences between the Honda Prologue and the Chevy Blazer EV lie in aesthetic choices and usability. If you prefer a more subdued design and practical driving experience, the 2024 Prologue may be the wiser choice for you. If you’re looking for a more tech-happy, glitzy experience, the Blazer EV might be your cup of tea.

What’s the Same Between These EVs?

As mentioned, these vehicles share the majority of their internal engineering, with the 2024 Honda Prologue built on the Chevy Blazer EV’s base and drivetrains. This means they have very similar horsepower, torque, and fuel efficiency. It’s estimated that the Honda Prologue will get up to 300 miles on a single charge. This rating may even be better than the Blazer EV, though time will tell as these models are further tested.

When you measure these two SUVs, they come within a fraction of an inch in length. Both sit five occupants, which is typical of an SUV in the midsize segment, and both fit around 58.2 cu.ft. of cargo with the back passenger seats folded down, or 25.2 cu.ft. with the back row upright. Overall, both of these vehicles are all-electric, sporty, midsize SUVs with plenty of capability and power.

Why Choose a Honda Prologue?

The 2024 Honda Prologue is destined for great things. Honda was able to introduce it to the market in record time by leaning on GM’s newly developed EV base, but they still put the Honda spin on it that we have all come to love. If you’re a current Honda driver, you know how different driving a Honda is compared to how any other brand can be.

Honda pays attention to comfort and usability in everything they build, and this is no different in the Prologue. This model is an exceptional EV packaged in the Honda wrappings we all know and love. If this is your first experience with a Honda, compare the two models and see which makes more intuitive sense for you! Don’t forget to admire the Prologue’s subdued beauty and consider how it will fit into your life.
