Honda Accord
Following the success of the Civic—which was released in 1972—Honda wanted to deliver a larger vehicle with the same impressive performance and incredible reliability, so they began developing their next model. The result was the remarkable Honda Accord, which first hit the market in Japan in 1976 as a two-door hatchback that was larger than the Civic and incredibly stylish.
A four-door sedan followed in late 1977, reaching American shores for its first generation and building on the initial success that Honda had found here with the Civic. Originally offered with a two-speed automatic—or “Hondamatic”—transmission, this became a three-speed automatic for the 1980 model year, followed by the launch of a second-generation Accord for 1982.
Despite being larger than the Civic, the Honda Accord was still a compact car when it first became available; in the years that followed, however, it has routinely grown in size. Having been around for half a century, Honda has offered its Accord across nearly a dozen generations (with a facelift partway through nearly every one), resulting in a tremendous number of updates and redesigns for this stunning car.
The third-generation Accord that launched for the 1986 model year featured hidden headlamps that became immediately iconic, along with Honda’s first double wishbone suspension on both the front and rear ends. For its fourth generation in 1990, the Accord grew substantially in size and became a midsize model; following this, Honda began making different Accord models for different markets, including the US, Japan, and Europe.
The 2008 Accord that launched its eighth generation grew once again and became a full-size sedan, enjoying a far dissimilar design than it launched 30 years prior. For the 2013 model year, Honda released a ninth-generation Accord in both a sedan and coupe style, while the 2014 Accord introduced a hybrid engine. Following this, the tenth generation saw the coupe option discontinued, becoming exclusively available as a sedan, while the eleventh generation—which kicked off with the 2023 model year—has improved the Accord inside and out.
The Honda Accord was the first Japanese car ever made here in the US, starting in 1982, so it is no surprise that it has become a part of auto industry history and one of the best-selling cars of all time.

2024
The Honda Accord received a complete redesign for the 2023 model year, launching an all-new eleventh generation for this legendary car, and the 2024 model continues to roll these exciting new developments forward. Its powertrain lineup has been simplified and now consists of a standard 1.5L turbocharged I-4 engine that offers 192 hp or an available 2.0L hybrid engine with 204 hp and incredible fuel economy.
Both engines make the Accord fun to drive, but the hybrid has the edge for superior acceleration and fantastic performance that will have you looking forward to any chance to get behind the wheel and go for a drive. The Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance technology is standard on every trim, giving you automatic emergency braking, a lane-departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and much more.
Gorgeous inside and out, the 2024 Honda Accord enjoys the benefits of the previous year’s redesign, including honeycomb details on the front dash similar to other Honda models. The seats are luxurious and incredibly comfortable thanks to available leather upholstery, with plenty of room for you and your passengers to stretch out in; plus, you get up to 16.7 cu.ft. of rear trunk space to load up with everything you need to bring with you.
While a 7.0-inch infotainment display is standard, an available 12.3-inch screen looks absolutely stunning and pairs beautifully with the standard 10.2-inch digital gauge display. Combine that with the available 12-speaker Bose premium sound system and wireless charging pad, and you have an invigorating driving experience designed to please.
2021
For the 2021 model year, the tenth-generation Accord has received an update and facelift from Honda, making one of the best cars on the road even better. Many of these changes become quickly evident as you approach the 2021 Accord and see the new styling details and touches, such as an updated front grille joined by available LED headlamps.
New alloy wheels immediately stand out, plus the new Sonic Gray Pearl color adds the perfect option if you want a car that looks as refined and sophisticated as it feels. The six-speed manual transmission has been discontinued with this refresh, though Honda fine-tuned the throttle response on both engines to ensure superior acceleration and performance.
You will also find a number of exciting improvements inside the 2021 Honda Accord, which has received an updated interior. First and foremost, the gorgeous 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display that was previously available is now standard on all Accords, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Higher trims enjoy wireless support for these apps, though all trims have USB ports that are easier to reach and use thanks to the redesign and update for this model year. Standard safety features remain exceptional, plus the 2021 model adds a rear-seat reminder feature to alert you to check your back seat before leaving your vehicle if a rear door was opened when you first got in.
2018
Following a ninth-generation refresh and update for the 2016 model, Honda launched an all-new tenth generation for the Accord with its 2018 model year. Rather than a simple refresh, the 2018 Accord enjoys a complete redesign with new engines, a new look, and incredible new technology inside and out.
Two impressive engines are available: a standard 1.5L I-4 that offers 192 hp and a 252-hp 2.0L I-4, both of which offer turbocharged performance. You can find a ten-speed automatic transmission on many models, while the Sport trim features a responsive manual transmission instead. A hybrid option also remains available, offering a 2.0L engine paired with electric motors for bold performance and incredible efficiency.
Inside the 2018 Honda Accord, you will find a gorgeous interior that boasts remarkable standard and available options, such as a 12-way power driver’s seat with four-way power lumbar. You can get heated and cooled seats in this Accord, while comfort options like dual-zone automatic climate control and innovative technology such as keyless entry have become standard, ensuring you have a great time behind the wheel no matter which trim is right for you.
A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display is standard, with an 8.0-inch display available, which is easy to use and includes physical controls for greater functionality. Most exciting of all, standard safety features on every 2018 Accord include a forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and much more.
2013
Honda kicked off the ninth generation of the Accord with the 2013 model year, featuring a complete redesign and all-new look and feel for its legendary car. Both a sedan and a coupe version of this ninth-generation Accord hit dealers across the US in late 2012, bringing gorgeous new style and design with them thanks to a full redesign that ensured it remained one of the most popular and reliable midsize cars on the market.
Hybrid options would follow later in 2013, but—initially—this version of the Accord was offered with either a 2.4L I-4 engine that provided 185 hp or an available 3.5L V6 that put out 278 hp. These were two exceptional options, giving you the kind of power highway-bound commuters are looking for, with reliable performance and excellent fuel economy.
Inside the 2013 Honda Accord, an 8.0-inch infotainment display was standard on all models, giving you fantastic technology that few other models at that time had to offer. This made it easy to control advanced audio and entertainment features, including USB and Bluetooth connectivity, complete with a rotary knob and other controls.
As a larger car, you get plenty of room inside the Accord to take advantage of, including up to 15.8 cu.ft. of available trunk space, plus spacious and comfortable seating. With leather upholstery available and cloth upholstery standard, everyone inside the Accord is sure to be comfortable while surrounded by a sophisticated interior featuring numerous fine details like touches of chrome and more.
